What Causes An Outbreak Of Blisters Upon Consumption Of Alcohol?

My fiance is an alcoholic. She s been dry for6 months. Here20 yr old son just died and she drank a pitcher of beer and fifth of vodka. Next morning she had 5 or 6 horrendous blisters appear on her hands. Are these drinking related? These are not burns as I watched them appear.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The blister formation is not related to alcohol. Alcohol even is disinfectant that can be applied over blister after rupture or drain.

The bacteria infection, herpes infection, trauma, dermatitis etc can be the cause.

It can be drained and antiseptic cream can be applied over that.

If you post photo of lesion than further comment can be given regarding exact cause.

Hope I have answered your question

Let me know if I can assist you further

Regards,
