What Causes An Outward Pressure In The Eye Along With Pain?

Hello, For the past 2 weeks it feels like something is pushing my left eye outward.. like it s swollen from the inside but not visible on the outside. It also hurts sometimes if I push too hard when rubbing or even just looking too far to the left or right...but not all the time, symptoms come and go. I m going to see my doctor soon, but is this an emergency situation? Should I rush to see my doctor?
