What Causes An Unbalanced Sensation While Walking?
today I walked four miles and into the third mile I started to feel unbalanced. By the time I got home from my walk at four miles I had to lie down because the room seemed to spin like I had been drinking, which I hadn t been drinking. What would cause this sensation? I also do this when I get up at night to go to the bathroom and bump into a wall.
Hello. I am Dr. Praveen and I will be answering your question today.
From what you are telling me it sounds like vertigo. A condition called BPPV is possible. Generally it takes a while to resolve and can come about on and off. Its treated with a drug to stabilise the 'fluid in the ear'. There are exercises for the same too which are very helpful. However, many other conditions can also cause similar complains for example, in an elderly person it could be the first signs of a stroke but then the spinning is not pronounced. However in your case I feel its a vertigo you are experiencing. Please see an ENT surgeon for evaluation.
Wishing you good health. Please feel free to drop in any more queries if need be. Warm regards, Dr Praveen Jeyapathy
