What Causes Anal Itching During 37th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hello! I m 37 weeks pregnant. Yesterday night my anus started to itch suddenly. It s itching inside...like I would like to scratch it from the inside if I could. I don t think (or I hope) it s hemorrhoids...what can I do? This feeling really bothers me.. Thank you for your time.

Hello,

If there is no redness in the anal area very likely you are having hemorrhoids as the cause of the itchiness. You may use procto-synalar in the anal area 1-2 times a day. If you have redness in the anal area, you will need to combine this with a ketoconazole cream using a thin layer of procto-synalar and then ketoconazole cream over it twice a day for 7-10 days.
If you notice no improvement with the above treatment in 4-5 days please see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
