Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, Thank you for being there and answering my question. I saw my doctor today for onset of rectal bleeding. It is a new occurrence. I am a 61 year old female in god health. Just had a Pap, mammogram and blood work. All normal, with slight anemia. My doctor is recommending a colonoscopy and a test where they put a tube and camera down my throat. I m very scared, to say the least. I am very healthy otherwise and mildly overweight. I m now on a diet and have lost 3 ounds in 2 weeks. My doctor thinks my bleeding may just be hemorrhoids and I m hoping that s all it is. I have no pain. I have suffered from sTomah aches after eating for a little while, but it s gotten better. Should I be very concerned? I cannot pay the fee, but thank you for letting me ask my question anyway.
Colonoscopy is a procedure for a lower intestinal area like the rectum and colon. This is not to be concerned much. Because you had lower GI BLEED that means blood is from either rectum or colon.
Yes, the much possibility may be piles (haemorrhoids) but the other causes cannot be singled out as your age factor is there too.
You need to go with Colonoscopy and get a proper diagnosis done before it can be late. The Anemia may be also because of same reason.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
