What Causes Ankle Joint Pain With Throbbing And Warmth?

Left ankle joint pain with throbbing, no swelling, no previous injury, pain is alleviated slightly my massaging Achilles' tendon. Left ankle is warmer, though that might be from rubbing it. May have exerted too much effort in cracking the ankle joint earlier.
