What Causes Ankle Pain Radiating To The Shin?

When I woke this morning, the top of my right foot by the pivot point of the ankle is very sore and the pain is shooting up my shin. The top of my foot is slightly numb. About 5 years ago I rolled my ankle on my right , but have had no pain since except for a clicking noise from my ankle as i walk. What could be the issue?

This sounds like nerve injury and could be due the injrug you sustained earlier . please consult an orthopedician asap
