Here in your case, the symptoms of ankle edema do not seem due to any complication of the disease itself or after effects of repair of primary disease Tetralogy of fallot. Had it been due to congestive heart failure as a result of heart arrhythmia etc. (A very common occurrence in repaired cases of tetralogy of fallot), then there should have been pitting edema of feet/lower limbs in stead of only ankle edema.

As in your case, history is not complete, particularly with regards to any medication being taken by you for any other disease or complaints. Elevated uric acid level is one of the causes of ankle edema with pain, therefore level of uric acid should be tested in your case & treatment done if needed.

Certain medicines causing ankle edema are:
1- Calcium channel blockers used for treatment of hypertension
2- Gabapentin and Pregabalin used for nerve pain and seizures etc. 3- Analgesics like Ibuprofen, Naproxen etc. 4- Cortico-steroids usually used for asthma etc. 5-Oral contraceptives
6- Pioglitazone and rosiglitazone

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
