What Causes Anuria While Suffering From Kidney Failure And Diabetes?

My fathers kidneys have failed and he is a diabetic . He doesn t pee anymore. He was doing home dialysis until he had an infection inside his stomach where the bag is. The infection is gone now and he does hemo dialysis at the hospital now through his arm and upper chest. The new problem is he sweats proprusly at night just at night when he s trying to sleep. Why is that???? I think something is wrong because this was never the case before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of kidney failure & diabetes. Kidney failure & diabetes often cause damage to the nerves, dehydration or skin damage.

Damage can result in anhidrosis on one side of the body & profuse sweating (hyperhidrosis) on the other side of the body.

Diabetic Neuropathy should be investigated & treated. The patient should be well hydrated by oral rehydration fluids or intravenous fluids.

Diabetic should be well controlled to void worsening of the symptoms.

You are suggested to get your father physically examined by a Neurologist & a Nephrologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
