Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I used to be an athlete and have always been healthy, but after experiencing some episodes of anxiety and heart palpitations a few years ago, I have become scared to exercise, or to run or do anything that makes my heart beat really fast.. I went and saw a cardiologist a few years ago and did several tests and they came out normal. Lately I have been getting paplitations again, feeling like my heart skips beats everynow and then, and I get even more scared to exercise, since I heard that exercising is good for anxiety.. Should I be worried, should I go back to the doctor or does it sound like it's just all emotional and anxiety?
Hi welcome to HCM, These symptoms reflect exercise induced tachycardia.this EIT can be precipitated by the increased sympathetic discharge associated with exercise. This is once again failure of the regulatory autonomic mechanisms. I advice baseline ecg along with 24hr holter monitoring, this can pick up missed beats.radiofrequency ablation can offer permanent cure. a screening 2Decho helps to rule out structural lesions.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. thank you
