Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Anxiety, Depression And Rapid Heart Rate After Taking Citalopram And Nuvaring?
my daughter is 26 , she takes citalopram and has a nuva ring . she is feeling very jittery and having irregular heart beats. she is unable to sleep . she has mild depression and anxiety and occationally has anxiety attacks , she said this is different , she seems confused and unable to complete tasks, this is not normal for her she is a cna . could this be from the combination of these meds , she said they could cause some side effects. she said she just feels like something is wrong like her hearts not beating right. also she said when she went to take out her nuva ring she could not find it . not sure if it came out or it could have gone up too far.
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that citalopram is not causing her rapid heart rate but anxiety. It’s recommended for her to see a psychiatrist or a psychologist for proper counseling and treatment
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards Dr Bhanu Partap
