Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 22 he has no appetite says he gets weak in legs feels bloated fatigue and hands shake and very irritable has a real bad outlook on life. He was a major drinker but is no longer i dont believe it has to do w liver . He has had a couple of injuries like falling on his back he says its painful to sit up straight. Do you have any idea what these symptoms could mean. ???? I personally think severe anxiety and some form of B12 deficiency.
I am happy to know your 22-year-old son is not a drinker anymore. Getting weak and fatigue and bloated could be related to stopping drinking.
Yes, his liver should be checked through an abdominal ultrasound, and liver/kidney/pancreas function test to rule out respective problems.
I would suggest complete blood count and anemia testing rule out anemia. Blood electrolytes to check to get a full replacement. Give him plenty of water with oral rehydration salts to keep well hydrated. Probiotics will stabilize his intestinal flora; simethicone will ease bloating.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
