What Causes Appetite Loss And Excessive Weight Loss?

Recently I have completely lost my desire to eat and nothing sounds worth eating and when I do eat I feel very full after just a few bites and I have lost weight I assume from not eating and no matter what I eat I get s old fashion stomach ache- I don t have stomach pain and I don t throw up but wish I could. My maternal grandmother died of stomach cancer . How do I get tested to find out if this is what is wrong?

Hi,

I understand you are concerned about your weight loss and stomach ache. I agree with you that your symptoms are concerning. The next test that I would order is an EGD, for which they would put a scope down your esophagus to look at your stomach, and take any biopsies of areas that look abnormal.

This would determine whether you have stomach cancer in most cases. If that was normal, the next thing I might consider is a CT scan of your abdomen, to look for cancer of some other organ, like your pancreas or liver.

I hope that helps and that you are able to find out what is causing your weight loss soon, I also hope that it isn't anything as serious as what we've discussed.
