What Causes Appetite Loss And Fatigue?

My husband is 73 years old and has lost his appetite, is weak and is tired all of the time. They have said his hemoglobin is low and his iron was at 8. He got 2 pints of blood last week but still is not feeling good. They did a colonoscopy, upper GI, Bone Morrow biopsy and PET Scan and cannot find anything. He keeps getting weaker if he does anything at all. What could the problem be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Possible bleeding or malnutrition can cause low haemoglobin and low iron deposits.
Keeping a diet without or with low meat and vitamin C can cause iron deficiency anemia.
He needs to be treated with iron and vitamin C for three months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
