What Causes Appetite Loss And Hair Loss While On Hydroxyurea?

I have been taking Hydroxyurea 1 cap 3 x week - platelets have gone from 663 to 523 in three month period. Am having some hair loss and less appetite. I take this for ET. Is this a life long med I will have to take? I also take Keppra and Tegretal for seizures. Any problems I need to watch for among these meds?

hair loss is not due to medicines it’s due to telogen effluvium ( catabolic stage of hair cycle)
you should keep a check on your blood counts as hydroxy urea do suppress it and if it goes below normal range than you might need blood growth factors so you should refer to your physician and he would help you out with it

for your hair looks apply minoxidil 5 percent twice a day and use it for 4-6 moths and in between the application take vitamin E supplements once a day
it should take care of it

you can ask any related question
would be happy to help

best regards
