What Causes Appetite Loss And Hot Flashes While On Methylprednisolone?

Hi, my wife has back problems and is having surgery in May. She takes lyrica for pain but asked her doctor for something stronger because she hadn t been able to sleep. She was prescribed 4 mg of methylprednisolone and has been taking it for the past 4 days, as described. It hasn t helped her pain at all and she has lost her appetite, has hot flashes, and feels miserable. She told me today that she stopped taking her Lyrica when she started the Medro. Should she still be taking her lyrica with it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may not be related to severe gastritis associated with a steroid.

As of now, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If the symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
