General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Chest pain with breathing difficulty are not symptoms to take lightly. These symptoms could be caused by many medical problems linked to the heart, lungs, oesophagus, stomach, muscles, ribs, or nerves. Some of these problems are life threatening while others are not.The pain caused by most of these conditions will always radiate to the arm.Since a possible heart problem has already been eliminated in your case, the next possible origin is lung problems.Possible lung problems that can give you this presentation are asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, pneumothorax...With the symptoms you have described, the exact cause of your problem may be difficult to identify and physical examination by a Doctor is indispensable. I will suggest you make an earlier trip to your Doctor if the symptoms are not getting better on your inhaler or if your Doctor is not around, you see a different Doctor.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
