What Causes Arm Numbness, Persistent Severe Pain In The Hips And Shoulders?

I have been experiencing crippling pain in my hips, shoulders ( both sides ), my forearm will go numb, while asleep, sitting at my desk. This has been going since September. It started out as mild, but now, all the time. I used to take Ibuprofen for the pain, but that doesn t work anymore. Now my right wrist is swollen. Nothing is helping. I have a history of heart disease, am taking Benicar, Lopressor, Simvastin, Plavix, baby aspirin. I went to local doctor, he did blood work, and all was great. He said I have Osteoarthritis without even examining me. Do you have any suggestions? I am desparate!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite possible that you are having arthritis which is leading to the pain in joints. But it is important to ascertain whether it is osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis which can be done with the help of a few blood tests cause treatment will vary accordingly.

I would advise you to get an ESR, RA factor and CRP test done. Consult an orthopedician for further course of action. Meanwhile, you can take Tab. Naproxen for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
