What Causes Arm Pain Along With Numbness After Inserting Catheter On The Arm?

Hi.My wife had a picc line inserted about 5 weeks ago and they had to withdraw it due to severe shooting pains up her arm So she had a central line catheter put in instead so she could have chemo.About 3 days later her arm went numb and now she is unable to move it and has severe pain .Is this nerve damage and will it get better? Thanks.
