What Causes Arrhythmia Of Heart In The Mornings?

If I am lying on my back when I first wake up in the morning, as my chest lowers after each breathe, my heart feels like it continues to rise or float. It really feels wrong. If I turn to my side, it stops after a couple of breathes and I don t feel it any other time of day. I am a 50 year old woman. Both my mother and grandmother had some sort of irregular heart rhythms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to stress and anxiety. People with high stress lifestyles and those with anxiety disorders might sometimes experience heart palpitations when they wake up. I suggest to do an electrocardiogram for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest to follow a healthy lifestyle and avoid stress in the daily basis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
