What Causes Asociality And Emotional Behaviour In A Person?
My husband is 62 and I am beginning to think he has many symptoms that may be Asperger s. He will not look into the eye of who he is talking to, he usually is not empathetic, he starts talking and does not realize that his listener has totally tuned him out because he has talked so long, he zones into something and closes off the world, he puts on headphones to block out the noise in our empty house, he does not get social cues, and he cannot handle an emotional conversation. For years I have said or thought- that is not normal behavior. How do you bring it up with your spouse? For me, his behavior that is so hurtful would make more sense and help me to be more understanding rather than thinking he is being rude and mean.
The symptoms of using headphone to block out noise in empty room can be a part of auditory hallucination of schizophrenia disorder. There is no question of being rude or apathatic, he is definitely suffering from some sort of psychiatric disorder which is hampering his quality of life. He needs immediate evaluation with an expert psychologist and get detailed history, physical examination, counselling and medication support to control the symptoms before it flare or worsen more.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
