Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, My Son is 2 years 5 months he is suddenly stops eating and don t demand any meals. He only wants to eat chocolates, bhatura, frooti etc. And when he sleeps he takes milk. Its almost 1 month he don t taken a single bite of chappati. Now a days he sometimes eat rice or bhatura. One is a very serious problem if we put chappati in front of him he is behaving like he is somewhere feels fear and put hand in his mouth then go somewhere else. Please suggest I am so much worried.
Children are always attracted to packed foods like chips, chocolates, icecreams and as you said bhatura like things which is absolutely normal.
Children tend to not like food thats cooked at home specially chapati and its due to the routine similar type of food they get to eat.
And to avoid eating they try to find different ways but it's up to parents how to make them like it.
Whenever parents come to me with their children with similar issues I suggest them to keep changing the type of food they give to their children by maintaining the nutritional value they need in every type of meal.
If you find it difficult then a dietician can help in this. As well as there are so many websites available that show how to make a different type of food for kids so that they love it along with nutrition.
Apart from this get advice from a paediatrician for nutritional supplement option.
Encourage your child to finish the food by giving compliments or gifts sometimes. More you attract their attention towards the food more they love it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
