What Causes Back And Leg Pain Along With Numbness Post Laminectomy?
I have had 2 back surgeries in 2000 and 2001 on l5 s1 the first was a laminectomy and a year later another laminectomy and laminotomy. I still have back pain leg pain and some numbness in lower leg as well as weakness and periodically my legs can fall asleep if I sit down for extended periods of time. My last mri study shows L3-L4: Facet joint degeneration causes no central canal or foraminal stenoses. L4-L5: Disc bulge and facet joint arthropathy cause mild right and moderate left foraminal stenoses. No central canal stenosis. L5-S1: Patient is status post left L5 hemilaminotomy. Disc bulge and facet joint arthropathy contribute to moderate bilateral foraminal stenoses. No central canal stenosis. There is L5-S1 fatty endplate degenerative change. Other than that my main concern is ED I have had this issue for too long. I have used cialis with some success but may work only temporally. Can anything be done?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have back and leg pain along with numbness post laminectomy . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like wrong posture , injury , vitamin B12 or E deficiency , nerve compression , disc problem or sciatcia . Herinated disc or compressed fracture can also cause such symptoms . The symptoms can also occur as a post surgery complication , so consult your surgeon and discuss the condition .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamin supplement along with physical therapy and stretching exercises . For now do not do exercises , take complete rest and apply warm compresses to leg . Doctor may also recommend surgery in severe disc problem . For now take proper rest and keep your leg in hot water tub with epsom salt for 15 minutes and apply warm compresses to back .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
