What Causes Back, Hip And Leg Pain After Discontinuing Alendronate?

On my doctor s advice, I stopped taking alendronate a week or two ago. About a week ago, I began to have aches and pains in my back, hip and legs. Suspecting they were withdrawal symptoms, I searched the Web and found support for that idea. I have taken Aleve for the pain without much benefit. Is there something else I might do to relieve the pain?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Alendronate is used for osteoporosis.
Pain after Alendronate is mostly due to calcium and vitamin d 3 deficiency.
So start maintainance dose of calcium and vitamin d 3 once daily for 6 months.
Also drink milk and eat more bananas.
You can apply warm water pad on painful areas of body for pain relief.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
