What Causes Back, Knee And Foot Pains After Recovered From Anorexia?

Hi I have been in recovery from anorexia for four months. I was admitted to hospital at 30kg. I am now 50kg and was discharged 1 month ago due to my great progress and positive mind set. However I have been experiencing lower back pain and hip pain, knee pain and foot pain? Is this likely to do with my body adjusting to my new shape and my bones trying to heal? I m really scared I am never going to be without pain?

Thanks for the question.

First, let me congratulate you on feeling better. It sounds like you've put a lot of effort into getting better and you should feel good about yourself. There are a lot of potential causes of the back, hip, and leg pain you describe. If you were in a hospital bed for a long time while recovering, often this alone can cause these types of pain. If you remain physically active, this pain should go away with time. Treatments include physical therapy, and simple over the counter painkillers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen. If this doesn't help, I recommend seeking advice from a primary care doctor for further evaluation.

Hope this helps.
