Hi,

A Better answer might have possible if you have mentioned your obstetric history. Because in case of multigravida patulous os with one cm dilatation can be seen in women who are not in labor also. But in case of primigravida, cervical os with 1 cm dilatation with very soft consistency, passing of mucus plug with brown tint may indicate onset of premature labor pains.

The possible steps that can help you are:
-Consult your gynecologist, get examined for uterine action. Gradual progression of intensity and duration of cramps usually indicates labor pains.
-Ultrasound to find out the well-being of the baby, the position of the baby, amount of liquor, etc.
-Treating the causative factor of premature labor can stop the progression sometimes. Like:
*Antibiotics to treat any possible pelvic infection.
*Progesterone supplements
*Giving enema
*Taking rest in left lateral position
If still pains progress, better to go for betamethasone injections for the lung maturity of the baby. Please discuss these things with your gynecologist and follow her advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
