Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Back Pain On The Right Side While Suffering From Pyelonephritis?
I was diagnosed with Pyelonephritis 2 days ago as I have right flank pain and CVA tenderness. In addition, I had dysuria, frequency and urgency. I have had an IV dose of Rocephin and an IM dose. I am also on oral levaquin. The culture is still pending. During the day, I have mostly been fine, but every night, I am awakened from sleep by this right back pain. I do not have a fever. What else could the back pain stem from?
I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.
I feel the back pain is due to your sleeping posture. When you are asleep, you tend to be in the same position for a long time; this can cause cramping of muscles and ligaments of the back. May be due to your flank pain you are sleeping in a different posture than what you normally do. The fact that you do not have this back pain during day time also points towards the sleeping posture to be the cause.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you
Regards Dr Sunita Sayammagaru
