What Causes Back Pain While Suffering From Shingles?

I have been taking valacyclovir for shingles for 7 days, my outbreak was on my neck, back and left side of my chest during this time I had extreme headaches; today the headaches have subsided but now the pain is what I would describe as a sharp rolling internal pain, moving from my left side to the center of my back. Is this a normal pain like the headache for my singles outbreak.

Hello,

I can understand your concern for back pain over back region after shingles. I can get that you have recently have had shingles and it is still active. The complete illness of shingles remains for around 2-3 weeks period and is quite severe after the age of 35 years as well as in old persons.
In your kind of patients I generally prescribe a pain killer tablet with paracetamol and tramadol. Additionally a course of cyanocobalamine tablets also helps in early healing of nerves thereby giving early recovery form the condition. You can take further guidance from a dermatologist.
