What Causes Back Pain With Swelling On Spine?

i woke up the other day and my back was lower back was hurting. I cannot stand straight or sit normal i have to stay hunched to the left side. I took some motrin and put a heating pad on it and the pain did not go away. there is some swelling on the left side near my spine. should i go to the hospital for try another day of rest
