What Causes Back Problems With A History Of Spinal Meningitis?

I was born in 1984, and was diagnosed with spinal meningitis at 8 months. I nearly died, and when i came to, i had no more signs of it. 26 years later i have bad back problems, currently undergoing treatment for disc degeneration. a recent MRI revealed a cyst or a sheath nerve tumor, or some kind of lesion (i have to get an mri with contrast) ... and an x-ray revealed i have a pars defect in my L-5, and L-4. My orthopaedic doctor says it's something i most likely had since i was born, since i have NEVER had any kind of back injury. My question is, could this disc degeneration, or lesion be from me having spinal meningitis years ago?
