What Causes Backache Along With Pain In The Chest?

I saw an ER physician Sunday at 3:00 AM for upper right back pain with some radiation to upper right chest. Chest X-Ray, front and side view, lab panel including a d dimer, troponin, and other labs, EKG, with no negative results. Physician prescribed naproxen 250 and Zantac twice daily. Back pain reduced but still feel upper right chest minimal discomfort. Did have a clot last May, took xarelto for 6 months and now on baby aspirin 81mg daily. Your thoughts are appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you have a blood clot then your D-dimer levels are elevated and an EKG might be abnormal. So it doesn't seem to be blood clot related problem.

Your presentation suggests towards musculoskeletal pain as you have improved with Naproxen.

You can apply hot compress over the painful area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
