What Causes Backache While Suffering From Acid Reflux?

Hello. Why does my heartburn pain occur in my back, always on my right side? I ve had this problem for 40 years and it is meal related, and easily brought on by just bending over slightly at the waist. I just had a Stretta procedure 2 months ago and hope that his will go away. I ve never felt that I had classical heartburn symptoms, but primarily the silent reflux LPR. However, I ve come to realize that this pain is my heartburn, in addition to severe LPR symptoms. My physician that performed the Stretta said that my LES was gaping wide open, so it must have been ineffective in containing stomach acid and enzymes. Thanks!

Hello,

It might be due to severe gastritis secondary to acid reflux.

You can consider antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult a physician and get evaluated to rule out other causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
