What Causes Bad Breath After Tooth Extraction?

Yes, hello. I have a very bad smell in my mouth after the removal of a molar 4 days ago. There is some plain but not intense. Also, there is a white lining inside the socket. I called the doctor today and he prescribed amoxicillin. Will it help. Should I be concerned?

Hi...
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that may be suffering from a condition called DRY SOCKET..

This happens when the blood clot which is formed in the extraction socket after tooth extraction is dislodged and the healing does not takes place.. This symptoms mostly after 4 to 5 days after tooth is extracted..

It is associated with intense pain, empty looking socket, bone may be visible, bad breath, altered taste, sometimes fever may also occur..

Taking amoxicillin alone may not solve your problem..

I would suggest you to visit your dentist and get evaluated for the exact cause of bad breath and if it is dry socket then the dentist will place a zinc oxide eugenol dressing which you have to get changed ever alternate day and will prescribe you painkiller to keep pain away and slowly as healing will take place your problem of bad smell will also solve..

Wish you a sooner recovery..

Thanks and regards..
