What Causes Bad Breath And Sour Taste In Mouth After Eating?

Hi, I have a problem with bad breath and I get a sour taste in my mouth after I eat anything! I've tried dry mouth toothpastes and rinses, breath rx, mints, gum, you name it. I brush after meals and even snacks, but the smell just comes back. I have dentures that I soak overnight in denture tabs, so it's not my teeth. Could this be from something internal?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain bad breath and sour taste in mouth after eating can be related to acid reflux in case of Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease and it can be more prominently occur after meals hen the digestive tract is stimulated for the process of digestion and acid production is increased..

Sour taste can be due to acid that refluxes from the stomach to mouth and it can also lead to bad breath..
In this case although you try the measures like brushing and mouthwashes,it can mask the smell for some time but it will re appear as the effect of the oral hygiene agent will wear off..

I would suggest you to consult a physician and get evaluated and in case of acid reflux you can take Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole etc empty stomach in the morning..

Take diagene or any other antacid half an hour before meals can help..

Avoid spicy food and take a nutritious diet..

Hope this information helps..
