What Causes Bad Odor In Nose Post Sinus Surgery?

I have had sinus problems for most of my life but in January I had a really bad sinus infection and my main complaint is I have a bad odor in my nose. I had sinus surgery 4 weeks ago and thought that all was good. Dr repaired some things and cleaned out all pus and infection. But the odor has came back. I have used the nelmed wash faithfully also. What could be causing this odor to linger on. It is making me crazy!

Hi,

The odor is due to recurrence of infection, and may need repeat antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or azithromycin. Nasal decongestant drops may be used, alongside anti histamines like cetrizine or loratidine. Steam inhalations, and nasal steroids may be needed. The altered smell if persist due to sinuses infection or chronic sinusitis may need a repeat drainage or an otolaryngologist review.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
