What Causes Bad Odour From The Genitals?

I have been experiencing a iodine or medicine smell, coming from my private area, and wonder what is making this. I am 69 years old, if that has anything to do with it. I check my blood sugar weekly and it seems to be fine. Could I have an infection of some kind?

I understand your concern.
Experiencing bad odour from genitals in elderly lady could be early symptoms associated with yeast infection. Sometimes, this could happen during menopause as the vagina would be dry and is more prone for infections.
Kindly take the following measures to overcome the same.
1. Wash the area with warm water and mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice a day.
2. Following this, you can use vaginal pH regulating solution like 'v wash'.
3. Apply antifungal medication as single dose like Fluconazole in the form of vaginal cream or pessary.
4. Wear clean and loose fitting undergarments till the symptoms subside.
Maintain good genital hygiene. Your symptoms should subside in about a week.
