Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your question and the medical history of taking thyroxine indicates that there is a possibility that your mother is having a bad taste in mouth secondary to medicine intake as thyroxine can cause dry mouth which in turn can lead to a bad taste or an altered taste in mouth..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and if she has a dry mouth the Physician can advise her to suck tart candies and chew sugar free chewing gum as they stimulate saliva flow and improve Dry mouth as well as taste..
Artificial saliva SUBSTITUTES are available with Pharmacist which can be instilled multiple times in mouth for lubrication..
Drink plenty of water..
Gargle with flavored mouthwash specially formulated for Dry mouth will also help..

You can also consult your treating physician who can reduce the dose of medicine if possible to relieve symptoms..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
