What Causes Barnacle And Red Spots On Skin In Elderly Woman?

i have been diagnosed by my primary care dr who referred me to a dermatologist because I had what they call a barnacle that needed removing, but turns out, I also have a large amount of small raised spots, some of which were red, but some are just brownish mostly on my back all over (upper and lower, and a few on my shoulders and upper arms.. He Rx putting cortisone creme for both the barnacle & spots, which I am currently ding. My question is, being 83 and this happening for the 1st time, can you give me an idea of whether this is to be expected at this age in most women? Thank you.
