Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Behavioural Changes While Suffering From Dementia?
My husband was recently diagnosed with MCI/early stage dementia. He is 72 years old and has type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and is morbidly obese. I am concerned about a change in behavior, ie: he has recently begun watching/listening to pron movies on television. This is totally out of character for him. He doesn t seem to become involved in what he is seeing. It s just there. He is otherwise, to people outside the home, functioning appropriately though sometimes a bit sluggishly. Is this kind of change to be expected?
It could be an early sign of conditions like Alzheimer’s disease. If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
