What Causes Big Clumps Of Vaginal Discharge While Taking Monistat For Yeast Infection?
When I urinate I m having big clumps of yeast, the size of a ping pong ball fall out. It s happened multiple times. What is it? I know I have a yeast infection and I m treating that with monistat... Why is this happening on day 2 of the 3 day treatment? I also have an iud inserted.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is not uncommon to experience increased vaginal discharge while using Monistat for a yeast infection. This can include clumps or chunks of the discharge as your body works to expel the yeast.
However, if the discharge has a foul odor, is accompanied by pain or discomfort, or does not improve after completing the Monistat treatment, it is important to see a healthcare provider to rule out other possible infections. It is also important to note that while the IUD itself does not cause yeast infections, it can increase the risk of developing them. If you have concerns about your symptoms, it is best to talk to your healthcare provider.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
