Hi, my uncle aged 72 years was on treatment for celulitis and was treated with a heavy dose of antibiotics.
Now ,post treatment he is not able to eat anything stating that food tastes bitter.
Can you suggest a way out so that he can be put in his normal diet ?

Hi
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain bitter taste in mouth post intake of antibiotics is due to side effect of antibiotics like Metronidazole and can stay for a few days after the medication is withdrawn..
Nothing to worry as it is not a permanent problem and the effect is temporary and will wean off gradually..

As of now he can drink plenty of water for faster weaning off the effect of the antibiotics and their clearence from the body will resolve the bitter taste..
He can take more of flavoured foods so that he can find a better taste..
He will have to relax and keep patience and gradually the effect of the antibiotics will reduce..
Using flavoured mouthwashes can help..
Taking sweet foods can further help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
