Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a very bitter taste in my mouth that rinsing and brushing doesn t take away. It lasts a couple of hours and I m wondering if the cause may be in old ice cubes that were made some time ago, the water for which sits in a hot garage in FL before entering fridge.
As per your complain yes, the ice cubes can be a cause in case if the water used to make them is contaminated with chemicals and when they are consumed it can cause ill effect like bitter taste in mouth due to effect of chemicals..
However bitter or altered taste in mouth can occur due to a number of causes like side effects of any medications if you are taking, dry mouth, acid reflux etc..
First of all avoid consuming the water that is suspected by you to be the cause.. In case if there is no improvement even after it for a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. As of now you should suck sugarfree chewing gums, tart candies and gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash.. Clean your tongue with a tongue scraper or a soft toothbrush..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
