Doc. I m inquiring here about a prisoner, world renown for his writings. he has a terrible skin disease. his skin is black and leathery head to toe. it really defies description. he got a bone marrow biopsy and cancer has been ruled out. he has had many tests. no diagnosis. his palms are now significantly darkened. this is a new development.

Hi, thanks for choosing HCM,
I gone through your question.
Black leathery lesions are commonly seen in fungal infections due to persisting scratching inturn to produce thickening of the affected part.
This is common problem in grouped members in one place like Hostlers, prisoners, and army.
Take antifungal treatment with epidermolytic agents will give good result.
Hope I answered your question, If you have any other clarifications, I will be happy to help.
Hope this helps you.
