What Causes Black Bowel Movement?

I had very black stool movement this eveningThe stool was not form, I had to watch for black stools for my mother when she was alive. This is what the nurses told me to watch for. I did have black stool early in February when I had a retina detachment, I thought it had something to do with this. It went away and I didn t think about it again until now. Laura

Hello,

Black color stools may be due to upper GI bleed or Bismuth contain antacids intake or intake of dark leafy vegetables etc.

Get it done stool examination for occult blood, use tablet Pantoprazole.

Avoid spicy food, alcohol consumption, smoking and caffeine drinks.

Get it done upper GI endoscopy then consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
