What Causes Black Colored Stools And Abdominal Pain After An Abortion ?

My stool color has changed recently... I had an abortion about a month ago and now my stool color is a very dark green, almost black. Other than moderate occasional abdominal pain that typically only lasts for a short period of time, I have no other symptoms. What could this mean? Also, I ve been experiencing discharge since the procedure. I m aware that this is normal, but how long will it last?

Hello,

Black colored stools are concerning for bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. It is unrelated to abortion. It can occur due to several conditions like ulcers, infection, inflammation, etc. Stool microscopy, stool occult blood testing, stool culture are required at this point. So please follow up with your primary provider for necessary evaluation.

Hope this answers your query
