What Causes Black Coloured Stool?

A week ago I got sick and had a fever for 2 days. I am just getting back to eating more solid foods. However, my stools are black colored. I have only taken my normal medications, pepto bismo and antacid tablets in the last 4 days. Should I be concerned with my stool coloration?

Hello
You mention that you took pepto bismol. It is very common for pepto to cause dark stools.
As long as you stay well hydrated, the black stools should go away about 2 days after stopping the pepto bismol.
On the other hand if you have fever or severe abdominal pains, or the black stools, do not subside, you should check with a physician.
Best regards
