What Causes Black Mark In Mouth?

my husband had a black marking on his inner cheek. He just had it removed today, but said that it had rooted itself, with the widest portion being 4 mm. He does have a 22 year of chewing tobacco at least every week. Could this be as simple as a skin tag?

Hello,

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms and with a history of tobacco chewing for twenty-two years. A black mark can range from a non-harmful hyperpigmented spot to a malignant condition known as malignant melanoma. A confirmatory diagnosis can be given only after a clinical visual examination and biopsy if required. As your husband has got it excised, a biopsy of the lesion should be done to confirm the cause. It should be taken care of and you should consult the treating doctor and discuss in detail.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
