What Causes Black Patches On Lower Lips And What Is The Treatment?

My son got black patches on his lower lips since 2 weeks. he is of 3 years old. one week back we met pediatrician and he said that may be vitamin deficiency. we used multivitamin drops suggested by him. but know they are increasing in size and darkness. please kindly tell the reason and treatment options?
