What Causes Black Spots Inside The Vagina?

I have noticed dark brown, almost black spots inside my vagina. They ve been there for about two weeks. They re not painful. But I have been really itchy there. I don t know if these are related at all but Im mostly concerned about the dark spots. I always have had a pink coloration within, never brown let alone almost black.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Black spots in the vagina are commonly indicative of melanoma (though very rare). Since you have symptoms of itching also, you are suggested to get clinically examined by your gynecologist or GP and get tests done for melanoma and STDs.

Keep your private area clean and avoid sex for a couple of days. Take care of your hygiene. Get STD tests done to detect STI if sexually active. Itchiness is caused by STD like chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis or bacterial vaginosis. If tested positive you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
