Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am 22 years old and I have black spots on the tip of my tongue. It looks like little black dots on the top of my papillea. It is not sore and I have had it for as long as I can remember. I have not had an STD, I do have good oral hygiene, and this is not a family history of black spots. However; it is very embarrassing for me as others think differently when I speak and they see it. I am looking for help in getting this removed. Who should I go to and what generally is the cost?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of black spots on the tip of tongue which seems to be due to hyperpigmentation and it could be irritated papillae of tongue leading to hairy tongue. It does not seems like STD as in that case mainly spots are of white color and rarely black.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral pathologist once and get it examined completely and start treatment after thorough examination. You should proper oral hygiene by following gentle brushing your tongue twice with a soft brush to remove any deposits on your tongue that can cause a black tongue. You should put pineapple pieces on tongue for 5-7 minutes. Quit smoking if you have any habit.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
